Getting Involved at Solel

by Robbin Botnick, April 5, 2018

As we are quickly coming to the end of our Fiscal Year and we are planning for 2018-2019, I would like to put a call out to all Solelniks who are interested in getting more involved in the activities of the Synagogue or within the community. There are many initiatives and projects happening right now and we are looking for volunteers to lend a hand or two. I understand that juggling time can be a challenge; however, we have a lot of short term needs on very specific projects and then other initiatives that do require greater time commitments. Current volunteer opportunities include:

  • Join the Board – we are currently looking for new members (3-4 hours/month) – 2 year commitment
  • All of the committees are looking for new members:
    • Mitzvah Committee (1-2 hours/month)
    • Religious Committee (1-2 hours/month plus events)
    • Membership Committee (1-2 hours/month)
    • House Committee (1-2 hours/month)
    • Capital Planning Committee (3-4 hours/month for 2-3 months)
    • Outreach to the unaffiliated Jewish Community (3-4 hours/month for 2-3 months)
  • Interested in teaching? Join our Bet Sefer Solel staff for the fall
  • Interested in song? Join our newly formed Solel choir
  • Interested in some other aspect of Synagogue or Community Life, we can look at that as well.

If you are interested in learning more about any of the committees or becoming a member please do not hesitate to reach out to me or the Committee Heads to discuss further.

I am also thrilled to advise at this time that our land sale has progressed and I anticipate that we will be able to confirm all of the details of the sale to the congregation at the Annual General Meeting on May 7th. We are looking forward to having a great discussion at this meeting as we look to the future and imagine what the next generation of Solel will look like.

Chag Sameach,

Robbin
