Anticipation

by Joel Brown, May 21, 2015

After over two years of preparation, planning, consulting, soul searching and recruiting, it’s now almost time for us to welcome our new Rabbi to Solel. Our very talented, dedicated and hard-working Transition Team have lead us through this most daunting task. More than two years ago we began the transition process by thinking and talking a great deal about who we are and what we value as a community. This reflection has and will continue to help guide us as we turn our attention fully to our future together.

We’ve spent a year working with the Reform Movement’s most experienced and skilled “intentional interim” Rabbi. Rabbi Bogosian has helped us to focus on what we value most about Solel and to clarify what we’re most passionate about preserving, as well as how and where we might be open to trying new things. Change is never easy, but we Solelniks have taken a thoughtful, measured approach to our first ever Rabbinic transition and we’ve come through it stronger and more confident than ever in the truly special nature of our extended Jewish home.

On July 1, 2015, we will welcome Rabbi Audrey Pollack, her husband Phil Subeck, and their children Seth, Gill and Rachael to Solel. Over the summer you’ll have many opportunities to pray, nosh and schmooze with Rabbi Pollack and her family. We’re all very much looking forward to getting to know them better and they’re excited to get to know their new extended Jewish family too.

It is an exciting time to be a Solelnik. We have the benefit of decades of proud tradition and also the promise of great new things to come – and the best part is that all the anticipation is over, because Solel’s bright future is here.
